The wound is the place where the Light enters you.

Alcyone (last name redacted) was born on Chandrila in 12 ABY (making her 22 standard years old) to two wealthy merchants who’d lost a lot of profit when the Empire had fallen. It was with great reluctance that they sent her to Luke Skywalker for tutelage—they weren’t inherently evil, merely cowardly opportunists—in the ways of the Force. Her Awakening hadn’t been particularly pleasant; she’d seen a vision that had foretold her own death, unceremonious and quick as she bled out in the rain. Her parents hadn’t needed much convincing to send her to the Jedi Academy after that, although it was still with hesistance: who better to care for their only child than her guardians?

Alcyone was six years old when she was shipped off to learn from the legendary Skywalker, a deity in his own right, and though she was often homesick, she applied herself with great vigor to make her parents proud.

She mastered Forms I and II (Shii-Cho and Makashi) with a flourish, surprised by how much she enjoyed sparring against her fellow Intiaites. The other students quickly learned that there was more to Alcyone than daddy and mommy’s money and a sweet face—she was kind, and yes, more than a little sheltered, but she was also adventurous and an elegant fighter (though, at times, too brash).

It came as a surprise to exactly no one when Alcyone proved herself to be an adept healer; though it was always easier for her to heal others than it was to do so for herself. After
completing the first phase of her training (mastering the basics), she became proficient in other arts, such as Force stun (useful when applied in healing), Force valor (useful for keeping morale up, especially in the sickbay), and Malacia (it was relatively easy, given all she knew about the body).

Sadly, she’d never get to finish the next part of her training: Ben Solo—her friend, the awkward yet occasionally sweet introvert she’d had a childish crush on—massacred all but a select group of Initiates. The only survivors were those who’d shown promise, those who channeled the Force in ways others couldn’t ever seem to match. Ben had twisted the truth even then, spinning a story to make it look like their Master had feared their growing power and decided to cull the herd. Stupidly enough, she’d believed him and so had the other survivors, following their fellow Initiate in a desperate attempt to escape. All of this was orchestrated from afar by Snoke, who instructed Ben—now Kylo Ren—to bring his peers to him now that the time has come. It was child’s play to mold their trauma-laden minds to his will, to convince them that he would give them vengeance against Skywalker if they swore him their obedience, and from then on they were the Knights of Ren, carrying out Kylo’s visions (influenced by Snoke). She viewed them as family—the Supreme Leader had poisoned her against her own).

The Light never stopped calling to her, and after the First Order ruthlessly blew the Hosnian System to smithereens (and reeling from the loss she felt through the Force; she was catatonic for a full day), Alcyone wondered if they’d became monsters like Luke. She still doesn’t know.

• Alcyone still has feelings for Ben, but she’s compartmentalized them to the point where she’s in denial about their existence.

• She’s learned Dark Side abilities and she can use them well enough, but Light Side techniques are and will always be her forté.
